Performance Anxiety Workshops

Learning cognitive skills to master Performance Anxiety is not comprehensively taught in most institutions. Sarah's workshops fill this gap. As one off events, or an annual program, Sarah works with students to master their mental game.

Production Wellbeing - EAP

Sarah works collaboratively with touring productions to support artists and crew with the inherent challenges of being on tour. Helping everyone to bring their best to the performances even when far from home.

Today our Year 11 HSC and IB Music students participated in a Performance Anxiety workshop with the wonderful Sarah Marshall. The students greatly benefited from her wisdom and provided them with an array of techniques to support them in their musical journeys. Thanks Sarah!

Victoria Williams Director of Music, Redlands

Sarah has given many workshops on peak performance at Abbotsleigh. She presents research-based information in an engaging way and helps to equip students with tools to overcome performance anxiety, building confidence on the stage. It is of note that each workshop is created in a customised way with strategies tailored to the individual students attending the workshop. Both students and Music staff value Sarah's expertise and the supportive and encouraging way in which material is delivered in her workshops.

Lynette Clarke Director of Music, Abbotsleigh

Fantastic! Comprehensive and practical! Really helpful! Well structured and informative, giving the students an understanding of where their performance anxiety came from and many helpful ideas to keep their anxiety in perspective. We have noticed a difference in our girls and are committed to extending the program.

Peter Sagar Co-ordinator of Performance Studies, Kambala School for Girls

You're very good at this. Thank you!

Adrian Schiller Actor, The Lehmann Trilogy, National Theatre

Sarah was performance therapist attached to The Lehman Trilogy from The National Theatre London while we were performing at Sydney Theatre Royal. She was incredibly caring, helpful and flexible in the way she administered to the company's needs when called upon. I would whole-heartedly recommend her services

Felix Dunning Company Stage Manager, The Lehmann Trilogy, National Theatre

Sarah gave me insights and strategies to be authentically me - to be comfortable, calm and to feel good about myself speaking to an audience. Sarah was amazing in helping me to find my voice, be confident and to appreciate my own style.

Adam Blatch CEO, Feel the Magic

What struck me instantly was Sarah's ability to provide clarity on my goals and objectives. Her guidance helped me increase my self-awareness, allowing me to understand my situation and apply the suggested tools to combat the anxiety. Sarah’s use of various exercises, tailored to my specific circumstances ensured that the therapy was aligned with my needs and outcomes.

FAQ

Frequently asked question

A psychologist typically has a doctoral degree in psychology and is trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders, conduct research, and provide therapy. A counsellor may have a master's degree in counseling or a related field and typically focuses on providing counselling and support for individuals dealing with personal challenges, but may not be able to diagnose and treat mental health disorders.

Sarah has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters in Counselling. She focuses on work with performing artists and helping them to thrive in whatever setting they find themselves.

In a counseling session, you will typically talk with a mental health professional about your concerns, challenges, and goals. The therapist may provide guidance, support, and feedback, and may suggest coping strategies or other techniques to help you improve your mental health and well-being.

Sarah is there to listen, to hear your story and work with you to decide on your goals. She will then assist you to achieve them by drawing on evidence-based strategies and clinical expertise.

The length of counselling varies depending on the individual and the nature of the concerns being addressed. Some people may only need a few sessions to work through a particular issue, while others may benefit from ongoing counselling over a longer period of time.

The choice is yours to decide how long they would like to work with Sarah.

Yes, counselling sessions are typically confidential, meaning that what you discuss with your therapist will not be shared with others without your permission, except in cases where there is a legal or ethical obligation to do so (such as if the therapist believes that you or someone else is at risk of harm).

Sarah takes your privacy seriously. She will never disclose to another that she is working with you. What you discuss with her in sessions will remain confidential, unless there is a legal or ethical obligation to do so.
